I have a lot of words about the series as a whole. This series used to be my favorite when I was a teen but in my 25 yo opinion, it didn’t age well. I didn’t really feel a connection to any character. Even patch felt distanced from the viewer, as if he wasn’t flushed out well. I wish I got more character development. Got deeper with the characters. Nora was unbearable and I’m angry about how Vee was treated through the whole book. She wasn’t a likable character but that could have been because she was made to be the funny fat friend who’s just boy crazy. Her whole personality was boys and eating. And also to make all the guys she’s ever been into evil.
Spoiler And then the one guy who is actually GOOD she falls for  And you kill him off  yikes. The only reason she gets married to some guy at the end is to redeem everything you’ve done to her in the past. 🥲 but the author just had to make her dress rip on the day of her wedding huh?
vee deserved better.  I understand that this is a YA novel series. I’m not the target audience and But I’ve read some really great YA work with amazing characters and character development. I just feel like the series and characters could have been better.

OKAY SO I read this series again because it had been like 7 years since I last read it and I felt super nostalgic for it. I do love the characters but there were several things that I wish I had known before reading aka things that might be triggering. There is a shit ton of talk about weight and how it needs to be lost and dieting. It was pretty much an entire characters identity. There is also addiction that came pretty  abruptly but I do think that it was accurate but very true to addiction which can be triggering. I just think some of these storylines could be very dangerous to young readers who get influenced easily by characters.
