It’s a refreshing to hear people not be the norm. Be okay with being different!

Inspiring, honest, funny. Highly recommend the audiobook! Loved hearing the voices of Meredith Grey, Olivia Pope and Annalise Keating in her personal stories.

For my first completed book of the year — I think this was fitting. It offered a lot of Self-Empowerment, rah-rah moments. And there were many areas where the candor and advice resonated with me. What I didn’t like was how flippant the entire book was...I almost felt myself getting anxiety from how worked up Shonda was expressing herself. It was a lot for me and made the book less enjoyable. Not a solid 3 or a 2 but definitely falls in between.

I liked the message, and I liked the writing style, very light and conversational and easy to read. It just felt a tad light on actual content. I enjoyed it though.

BRILLIANT.
Shonda Rhimes writes with a voice like you can HEAR her talking to you through the pages. She tells her story with humor (like, anticipate literal laugh-out-loud moments) and a kind of authenticity where you can't help but relate.
This was a kind of autobiography where I couldn't binge-read. Every chapter brought a wave of emotions and thoughts (often the big, feel-good joyful kind) where I felt it necessary to take the time to step back to process... I savored every chapter.
HIGHLY recommended for -- Women of ALL ages with big dreams.
Would I re-read? -- Most definitely. I get most of my books from our library, but this one is purchase-worthy.

excellent on audio, with live recordings of some of the speeches she references. Great message, great reminders, very approachable and easy to digest.

A book of courage, and choosing yourself. As per the quote found in the book, "You must do the things you think you cannot do" - Eleanor Roosevelt.

Loved this book. I listened to the author read it on audiobook and she was a great reader and a great storyteller. It had everything I like in a memoir. She’s funny and real and a fabulous writer. It’s just wonderful and everyone should read it.
