2.80!

A let down from the first one.

It was just mid tbh didn't really grab my attention. And unlike king of wrath it was just sooo boringgg

I liked that Kai was different from Ana's usual characters and I wanted that

This will be a short and sweet review.

I LOVED this book! Honestly so far Kai is the best of all men! He is protective, listens to the FMC, supportive and just everything! This man is also unproblematic and did NOT need to grovel! I LOVE that! I was really here for Kai because I fell in love with him in King of Wrath.

I loved Isabella! The girl was quirky and blunt and I honestly loved her for it! She was a breath of fresh air with her quirkiness and pulling Kai out of his comfort zone. I love couples who are opposites like this and so that is probably why this rated highly for me!

I loved when Isabella had her realization with her feelings towards Kai and she communicated wit him. This couple complimented each other so well and I loved the epilogue scene with them!

As always, the writing itself is good and the pacing is spot on. Love the tension. However… I did not find the plot/storyline as engaging as some of her other books. Dante and Vivian felt more alive than Kai and Isabella on the page. The stakes didn’t feel as strong as in some of the other books I’ve read by this author. Not to say I didn’t enjoy the book - I did very much - but it didn’t have quite the same spark I’ve come to enjoy, nor the epic groveling that has come before that works so well in this world.

I’m a huge fan of Huang’s writing style and really appreciate the patience taken with the story, especially with character development. In many romance novels, the pace can sometimes feel rushed, but the flow of Huang’s work is refreshingly calm.
