Gillian Flannery was a 30-year-old single-by-choice teacher of high school students. She grew up in a large family where she was witness to parents who fought all the time. Needless-to-say, she enjoyed her space. She did a wonderful job of excluding anyone, other than immediate family, that brought tension into her life.

John Slater was a divorcee with two daughters; the oldest was in one of Gillian's classes. The assignment in the girl's class was a 'pretend' marriage and all the baggage that goes with it. When John overheard his daughter on the phone one evening with another student about her possibly having a baby in the next year he went a little ballistic. He meets with the principal who requests a parents meeting with Miss Flannery to discuss this assignment. Long-story-short, this romance, on a serious topic, is meant to teach the reader a lesson on life.

Listed as a 'heartwarming, wholesome and tender' romance it is aimed at the 20 to 35-year-old age group. But I think those that are older might appreciate its more. Gillian and John each carry some understandable angst. John discovers that he wants a serious relationship with his daughter's teacher. Gillian has to decide if she will be ready to undertake a ready-made family. Decisions are not easy and life is not perfect. Learning from past mistakes, they manage over a six-week period to fall in love and fix some serious problems. A somewhat rushed HEA, I thought this book was alright.

****I just learned that this was a reissue of THE MARRIAGE PROJECT published in 1990 by co-authors Patricia Pinianski and Linda Sweeney.****
