Basically 400 pages for a man to come to the conclusion that when a woman compliments him he can just say thank you and move on instead of procreating with her

This is an okay read in the sense that it's well written but I don't think the plot is very good. I'm sorry Maya dies - though that's very convenient as it would have been even more complicated if she wasn't dead! The main character, Adrian, is really rather irritating and I think it would have been better if the story had been told by the two living wives, Susie and Caroline - they are just the more interesting characters. The ending here is a bit too contrived in my view too. Caroline deserves better!

I was pretty much enjoying this story until Ch25, but then Ch26 happened, and my enjoyment went straight downhill. Seriously, stepmother and stepson? Gross, abominable, egregious, revolting... It ruined all my enjoyment.

Nevertheless, I kept reading to see where it goes because I hate DNFing books. Fortunately, this was not the main theme the book was concerned with, but still, this representation, even though nothing concrete of that sort happened, irked me a lot.

With that said, it was my first Lisa Jewell book, and it definitely won't be my last because, as conflicting as it may seem, I honestly liked her writing style. So, I will be reading more of her work in the future.

I wanted to give it 1 star due to the above-mentioned reason, but then the story turned towards a different direction. Therefore, I have decided to keep it unrated.

2 stars because Adrien was quite simply the most clueless character with a narcissistic and co-dependant spoiled attitude. Adam from The Perfect Marriage actually looked like a rocket scientist next to this guy sometimes... and I was convinced he was the most clueless character ever (still is because Adrien had ask those extra 'layers'

This one took me so long. I was intrigued by what happened to the third wife but every character was so unlikable.

This book left me in tears. I was so sad for Maya.
Gave this 3 stars because I hated the redemption arc of Adrian. F*ck him.
Poor Maya
