Loved this. Was reading it to my 6 year old, who’s kind of stalled out on our recent books, but she really enjoyed this one. Even with some dated references, this book is still ahead of its time, in how it examines Mary, Joseph and Jesus and connecting the nativity with those a needy family in the neighbourhood. I was crying reading the ending.

One of my favorite Christmas stories. The audiobook read by Elaine Stritch is a fantastic performance and makes the book come alive.

How to even review this book? It is a definite children's book, and is very simplistic, yet I very much enjoyed it. It was just a nice, hilarious break from classics and dark-themed YA books.

I often read this around Christmastime. It's such a delightful, rollicking read that presents the Christmas story through the fresh eyes of irreverent children who've not heard the narrative before. It's fun, funny and true (in the sense that what becomes familiar sometimes loses its meaning, or at least its power) -- and a very quick read.

Entertaining to read together and also initiated a number of good conversations on topics including the Christmas story and gospel outreach.

This was one of my favorite holiday plays growing up, and I vaguely recall a VHS copy that my local library had of a film version. Heartfelt, funny, and holds up to the test of time.

This was the perfect book to end with for 2016. My kids really enjoyed it and I think they learned a lot.
