Good story!

Amanda Quick is one of my favorite authors. No wonder I have all her books. A writer and a introduction maker solve a murder mystery and fall in love.

2.5 stars, but I'll round up because the end had a bit of a twist.

Slow and boring in the beginning—good twist but the characters didn’t act like humans most of the time.

Three layers not deep enough to capture in any real sense the full heavinesses of murder, rape, and insanity, very polite, in a dirt-doesn't-exist sort of way, and fangless (to be liked by all is to be loved by none). Fast paced flow and witty banter, fun, though lacking gravitas. Believable romance, but unempathetic villain. Solidly O.K.

I really enjoyed the novel. Another great Amanda Quick romantic-suspense with Quick's trademark dialogue, independent driven characters who dare to defy the rules of society to live on their own terms. I was a bit surprised by the result of the villain but I thought the story was greatly paced. I discovered the rituals and customs of burial/funeral arrangement during the time of Victorian England to be very fascinating and actually learned something new. Another job well done and another classic Amanda Quick!
