Overall? Loved it.

Just one, pretty minor, complaint: the first 30% or so of the book was mostly fighting and battles, which made the book drag. It could've done with some condensing without losing any substance.

I remember hearing in the past that many readers didn't like how the series ended. Personally, I like the ending. Everything gets tied up, but the bow is messy in a good way. Things aren't perfect; things can still go wrong.

There is generally a lot of war in this series, and this book is no different; in fact, it has somewhat less fighting than previous volumes. However, there are still descriptions of violence, including a character losing a hand

(temporarily—it is repaired with magic)

, but even this is not described in too graphic a way. There are also torture scenes

which mostly involve using hot irons, strange bugs that crawl under the skin (but don’t do much more than cause pain), and gaslighting/mental manipulation

, but no sexual violence. There are also several mentions/descriptions of atomic bombs and their effects, though they are not named as such and it’s in a fantasy-like way.

I think it was a little slow in the beginning, but the last third I read non-stop until I finished. I remembered very little of it, I actually don't even remember re-reading it in 2018, and I was so confused lmao, for example I thought the Aroughs' siege was in Brisingr and it actually happens in this one.
I think it was a solid ending, even tho it broke my heart. I do have a couple of complaints, but some of them you can kind of explain I guess.
Also, forever being depressed about Eragon and Murtagh,

I'm glad Eragon got his head out of his ass, but Murtagh still deserves an actual apology

This book draaaaagged. It felt like it was long just for the sake of being long. Every time I came to a significant plot point, I thought, oh, this book must be wrapping up and moving on its way, only to see that there were hours left in the audiobook. For example, when

the big bad was finally defeated, there were 5 hours left!

. The storytelling could have been a lot tighter overall. I enjoy many of the characters however.
