You have to keep in mind that it's a kid's book but it's easy to read without any boring parts. A little dark which I like.

Miserable indeed. So miserable that I'm going to read something more cheerful to break this series up.

I now know that I have read this book before. For years I’ve been determined that one day I would finish this series. Today, I’m not sure that I’ll ever get there. I was all for this book until Sunny’s sword fight and the unbelievability of a baby with sharp teeth fighting off a person with a sword. Perhaps one day when I’m out of reading options I will continue the Baudelaire’s story.

Despite the fact that the endings in this series are as predictable as they come, I always look forward to Count Olaf being caught, just so he can escape again.
It's so annoying, yet not in a bad way, how Mr Poe does nothing to stop him. Honestly, I think something must be going on. I feel like Poe knows more than he's letting on, because when Count Olaf said: "And arson." in the previous book, Poe was like !!!!!!! SHUT UP !!!!! SHUT UP UR MOUTH!! And the more Poe's character appears, the more I can't help but feel cautious of him. He's a really interesting character, though, and I love how Lemony Snicket gave him a really bad, and constant, cough. I feel like that's because of the fire. Again, when the fire is mentioned by the Baudelaires the more I feel like something else is going on. Has the series even mention how the fire started?
I'm curious to see how this series develops from where I left off the last time I stopped reading them!
