Lorca presents the drama of a barren woman who longs to have a child of her own in rural Spain. The tension and lack of empathy that she's faced with from her husband to gossip and superstition build up her resentment and the painful finale where she strangles her husband. Yet, Yerma is a concise and moving work that showcases the tragedy of an anti-natalist mentality, and the dangers of idolizing fertility to the point of dehumanzing barren women.

Yerma is no hero, she's a killer, but her husband isn't any better.

¡Wow!

Billie Piper is so insanely attractive. Get it girl boss, lose all sense of reality due to your own obsession causing your life to fall to pieces around you wooo

EDIT 10/05/2022:

Having reread while studying for my exams, I'm knocking this down to a 4 I think. I still think the play and its performance itself is a 5 star, however, the stageplay is really poorly written/formatted in that it omits key information / WHOLE SCENES that appear on stage. This is weird because the writer and the director are one and the same as the author of this book - Simon Stone. Get it together Simon, how could you fail to put THE CHAPTER NAMES. Definitely feels like an actors script rather than one for the general public. I don't care though, because the play itself slaps.
