Gaslamp fantasy would be a favorite genre of mine, if it weren't for the constant reminder of the plight of women during this time. I was expecting magical faeries and fantastical stories but got the R-word, abuse and imbalance of power instead. I didn't expect that with this type of anthology. The first short story was the best and I would give it 4 stars. The subsequent stories were not great.
