I found this a solution absorbing (past the first couple of chapters), it definitely gave me strong miss Marple vibes but so much better - we have a retirement community, with loveable but very real and rounded characters and crimes upon crimes that were not predictable at all!

oh i really don't know how to highlight the irony more than to just say that this was the sweetest slice-of-life story about 3 murders

A murder mystery set in a luxurious retirement facility where Elizabeth, Ron, Ibrahim and Joyce are running a murder club. It was a cozy mystery. I did not expect much, but was still curious about the murders and who the killer or killers might be. I think the character could have had a bit more depth because they had potential. Joyce was my favourite so far. The police officers Chris and Donna were lovely but unbelievably passive. I appreciated the idea of the elderly being so great at solving crimes. Who doesn’t like Miss Marple? So we have a club of Marples. The ending was not great either. I am not very convinced. I like the idea of the graveyard being the center of the mystery very much. Will I continue the series? Most likely, yes. But it won’t be on top of my TBR list.

I really loved this. It was so witty and twisty- I loved that the characters were older adults living in a retirement community, it’s one of my favorite populations to read about in mystery fiction. The set up and character development made me very excited to continue this series!

When I’m an old lady, I want to be just like Elizabeth and her gang! Retirement sounds like so much fun - who wouldn’t want to spend their days solving mysteries!

I had no preconceptions about this book, as I don’t like to read the blurbs of books really. I enjoy the mystery of not knowing what to expect. This however was recommended for my virtual work book club! I must say, it was such a great read. I really enjoyed it and the writing of the older characters was so good. I felt like i could have been embroiled in a discussion with my Nan and her friends! A definite 5 stars from me!
