This is not my normal read so it's low, but at the same time I think it's well written and definitely should be plenty of people's cup of tea, but I'm not one for the "cozy mysteries" usually.

I know some people have said this first book is ok and the second is even better, but I thought this was charming!  The murder victims are not nice people, so you don't especially care about their deaths; it almost feels like the mysteries are not the point of the book, but I will say, I hadn't guessed the solution to the murders, so well-done there. The strength of this book, for me, lies in the characters.  I really loved our main four elderly investigators, their two cop friends (Donna especially), and Bogdan, the Polish worker/handyman.  There were also a lot of side characters who added a lot of enjoyment, and even tears, to the reading experience for me.  I would maybe knock a few points off for things being a little overly complex with the mysteries, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
