Leah and George.
Raised in foster care together. Told in then and now chapters.
Second chance romance. He’s the quiet and broody kid who’s traumatised and missing his lil sis.
He leaves without a word, she marries and has a kid with her friend.
George returns to town for the funeral of her dad and feelings reignite.
The writing was lacklustre and the angst just wasn’t angsting. There were some moments of good chemistry but they were far between.
This was predominantly about family and farming and foster care. The romance wasn’t the main focus and I think that’s why I didn’t enjoy it.

Loved this book. Really hits you in the feels. Such an emotional story about love, loss and ultimately misunderstandings that change the course of people’s life. A real insight into the suffering of the foster system, they highlight the struggles of fostering for children, carers and social workers.

Another fabulous Paige Toon book. It had me in tears 😭. Have your tissues ready. But it was so good, I loved the characters and the farm and the storyline.

The book that got me into Romance.

I was in a real reading slump last year and think I only read no more than 5 books the whole year! And I cannot remember why I picked up or how I found Someone I used To Know but I’m so glad I did. Before this I only ever read Dolly Alderton & Thriller/crime books and I can’t believe I didn’t read romance sooner!

Paige Toons writing in Someone I Used To Know is so beautiful. The story is so heart warming and bittersweet and this is one book I would love to forget just so I can read it all over again and feel the emotions for the first time. It not only shows romantic love but also family love and I fell in love with every character, i just cannot explain how perfect the storyline is! I would highly highly recommend Someone I used To Know.

I did enjoy this book, but I have to only give it 3* because I wasn’t fully sold on the love story between the three main characters :( It felt different to Paige Toons other stories but I think it’s because it was a new setting!
Excellent twist towards the end and I enjoyed the flashbacks.
