I have never struggled to read a book as I did with this one. The former missionary/spy angle just wasn’t for me. The only emotion I had for the characters was the initial hate I had for Sofie. But other than that, I felt nothing for the other characters. It seemed to bring in too many characters at one point that didn’t make sense. As I continued to read I just knew it was a one star rating. The last 30 pages of the book are the most interesting and they moved it to a two star book. I only read this because a co-worker loved it, but it just wasn’t the book for me.
