Some stories were exceptional, some were particularly boring, some I was looking forward to, some I dreaded

Yeah, this is the worst book in the Shadowhunters series. I used to kinda like Magnus before but now I hate him.

So a lot of this book of novellas was boring. I kinda started skimming hardcore during some parts, but Midnight Heir was my absolute everything, and Elyaas the Demon was a delight. I liked the parts with Alec, and the very last novella made me laugh a lot so
3.3 stars.
Side note: I had started to really lean towards Isabelle, but that last novella skyrocketed her up my list of favorite shadowhunter chronicles characters to number 6.

I'm so glad to finally be back in the Shadowhunter world! Magnus Bane is an amazing and hilarious character and I cannot get enough of his antics. :)

this book was so extra i liked it 🤍 Â
this is actually the first book i finished in months after being busy with uni and it took me a lot of time to get through it. magnus is one of my favorite characters, and the stories this novella had to tell were extremely hilarious and had me choking for air, but at the same time nostalgic and made me teary-eyed. it brought me home to my shadowhunters, i felt the comfort and pain of reading about will, jem, and tessa, and i loved how magnus explored romance in the centuries he lived through before he met alec. it also was reflective, in a way to read about magnus’ realizations and the lessons he learned the hard way during the course of his life.
just wanna know if we’ll ever get a tessa novella like this one? 🤩

Magnus was always my fave character in all the series. Learning more backstory was amazing and I loved the connection between history and fiction. Cassandra clare is an evil genius connecting The mortal instruments with The infernal devices as well!!
