I really dug the worldbuilding, and the funny and profound ideas from the characters and narration. Included were wonderful themes and meditations on environmentalism, animal rights, vulnerability, class struggle, and solidarity.

I felt the main action unfolded a bit too quickly, and some aspects could have used.a bit more fleshing out. Overall the worldbuilding and characters were quite compelling and I know I'm going to think about both of these for a long time as the author crafted these to be so very familiar.

SUCH a pain to get through the beginning but it finally got good and then it really could have ended 50 pages earlier.

too much exposition/monologuing/telling not enough showing. the worldbuilding was cool and i really did enjoy the first third or so but in the end this felt more like the impression of a story rather than an actual story

This book broke my almost year long streak of reading everyday. The premise felt promising when I picked it up and it wasn’t a bad book. But it just wasn’t worth pushing through being knackered after work to read another few pages of on a daily basis. So it took me a fortnight. Kinda glad I can move on.
