While reading [b:Off Base|31950854|Off Base (Out of Uniform, #1)|Annabeth Albert|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1476543505s/31950854.jpg|52611374] I already fell for Apollo and couldn't wait to read his story. And although I loved him in this book, it was Dylan who stole my heart with his steadfastness, understanding and honesty. He was a great match for Apollo in all respects and I was left with a feeling of contentment that these two would make a lovely couple and family in the long run.

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. I was totally engaged and enjoyed the tension even though it did feel slightly forced and manufactured at times. I don't usually love books that feature small children - the cutsey factor is often overbearingly annoying and, depending on the story, could tread perilously into inappropriate territory fairly quickly. Its a fine line and that book does gray that line slightly but not too much that its objectionable. The children ARE adorable and they make tge story work. This was just lovely ... I loved the characters and the chemistry was sweet. So far my favourite boom in the series ... and possibly favourite book by this author.

Loved the characters apollo and Dylan, but didn't like the dynamic between them going hot and cold a little too many times so 3 stars just got that reason

I adore Dylan. He was so sweet and mature for his age. He was so good to Apollo and his kids.

Apollo was a shithead. He treated Dylan so badly for a long time.

I don’t like this thing they do in stories where one of the mc’s is a widower and they keep referencing how their marriage wasn’t was amazing as it was. In this case, the reference was how his late husband wasn’t as fun as Dylan. I don’t see the point. You make the new guy awesome without shitting on the other guy. I get that it’s a plot point, but I don’t like it!

I did like the chemistry they had and of course they worked it out in the end. The kids were so adorable

Having never read Albert's books before, I jumped in at novel 2 purely based on the plot points. I love a good little brother trope and I love kids in books. I liked the characters but the end was a bit drawn out. Kids were cute but didn't add to the story at all in terms of fun and humor. Will continue this series!

Reread: honestly I recalled this being my favorite, and it still is. I agree kids could have contributed more or provided comedic relief, but it didn't bother me.

I enjoyed this as much as Off Base.
I loved both Apollo and Dylan. Separately...
I didn't like the way Apollo treated Dylan some times and how Dylan sort of just sucked it up. It was a bit too much push and pull for my taste.
One of the reasons Apollo used against them hooking up was the age gap. What? 10 years is not that much especially when the younger part is acting far more mature than the asshat!

How ever there were a lot of things I did like!
Hot (and I mean scorching) sex!
Adorable twin girls...
Bossy family and friends.
Hot sex... just to mention a few...
