Calderon is an amazing world. It's people are not always so amazing. The characters are weak. Getting better but still weak. I also notice a lot of ends being too easily tied up. Still, the story is compelling.

Another fine read. I consistently find that the first half of these books is a bit of a slog to get through, and the second half is nonstop action. This one didn't quite reach the heights of books 2 and 3 for me, but was still enjoyable.

It keeps getting better!!!

Thoroughly enjoying this series. I’m loving seeing the growth of the characters and the little bits of intrigue and suspense are well done. I’m looking forward to the next one.

Again, this surpasses the previous - with Captain's Fury, Tavi has become ... well, a Captain and this tale of war and intrigue has many surprises in store, as well as a HUGE reveal within the pages - one that was suspected and hinted is revealed, but the big thing to me is that I finally see what Tavi actually means - it is not just a made up fantasy name - it is a name with purpose - one held within these pages - the Codex Alera is a 5 star series all of the way ...

More action per page than any book ever written.
