This book was wilding right from the start. I can usually guess the whole plot (from long reading in the genre) and this one blindsided me.

- [ ] Spooky
- [ ] Creepy
- [ ] Haunting
- [ ] And just soo full of suspense, tense situations and lots of teenage hormones.
- [ ] I loved how it’s all very family against family until two people suddenly realise that the grudges of the past don’t have to affect them now.
- [ ] How people we think should care and protect us can also hide dark and hidden desires that could harm you.
- [ ] This can at times get a bit whiny and a bit dramatic…. Due to teenage hormones

Wow this was good! I definitely prefer this one over Harrow Lake. The horror and mystery elements were balanced nicely and were believable in my opinion. Some of the lines were cringey but that’s about the only complaint I have about the book. Also never saw the twist coming so that was a bonus!

Despite the classic embarrassing YA teen dialogue, this was a lot of fun and genuinely creepy a lot of the time. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Audiobook: This was in the goodreads Horror recommendations for Oct. so I gave it a try. It wasn't horror, IMHO. I'd call is suspense, very light horror, YA. The characters were well drawn out, fit well in the story and acted like someone their age would. 17-18 year olI admit I was disappointed in the beginning, she was such a HS girl, and I'm over interest that stage in life 100%. I stayed with it, some part of the story intrigued me, the mystery. As I kept listening I got more invested in these characters lives, enjoying the story more. I really didn't see the twisted ending coming, which is always nice. I liked it enough to download another book from this author.
If you want to know about the story read the blurb.
