5⭐️ all day long for this! This queer road trip rom-com is every beautiful thing you'd expect from Alison Cochrun. It touches on life, death, friendship, healing from family dynamics too many of us are familiar with...and getting out of your own way to be happy. It made me feel all the things from laughing out loud to holding back tears. I loved it and am already looking forward to a re-read.

I found the two main characters to be a bit unlikable at first but they really grew on me and the other characters and the overall plot more than made up for it. I loved the character development and the relationships between the characters and I even found myself tearing up at some points which almost never happens to me with media. I will say that the first-name fucking last-name as a curse got old fast but overall this was a really enjoyable, emotional, moving story.

The cursing with queer icon names was almost too much for me lmao, but I'm happy I stuck with this book.

I love when a writer is able to capture the joy and safety in queer spaces like drag shows. Its such a good and important feeling.

The final act of this book was sad, but I liked it.

I think the pacing was good even though I was afraid things would get tiring with the personality clashes. I liked the representation of neurodivergency too, it didn't feel like a Tumblr excerpt about ADHD.

While at its core, this is a book about death, it's also about life and living it to the fullest. I appreciated the way that ADHD and anxiety were discussed in this book, and neither character was reduced to just that. There's also a lot of talk about grief, about growing up, and about taking risks. An emotional ride, but definitely worth it.

A tragic LGBTQ+ spin on a pretty classic road trip trope. This one is full of warm fuzzies and teary grief filled pages.

If you struggle with mental illness tropes, mom issues, or death, I may give this one a pass. But if found family is something you love, then this one is perfectly heartbreaking.

I really liked basically everything in this book that wasn’t the main romance and struggled to really like the two main characters a lot of the time so this didn’t quite hit how Cochrun’s other books have for me.
