Hard to believe I wasted my time pushing through to finish this. I kept waiting for it to get better, to become….something. The character of Ingrid annoyed me, which I’m sure was the point but this whole “woe is me, life is so hard” schtick is just a bit much. I’m not sure what the point of this book was, but I do know that whatever the point was…I missed it. I rounded up to 2 stars.

This was one of those books with an interesting premise that is about everything other than that premise. It was just weird for the sake of being weird. I can't imagine that there are actual people out there who behave or speak the way the main characters do. The cult aspects were written in a way that allows the readers to put the pieces together, but in the end absolutely nothing happens. Readers are left confused and wondering if they wasted their time reading the book. I think this was the last book I'll read that falls into the weird/awkward/deteriorating/millenial woman category since they tend to never actually go anywhere.
