I read this aloud to my sons (age 5 and almost 4). My husband listened to most of it, too. :) He and I really enjoyed it because of reading Gawain and the Green Knight in college. The Arthur/Guinevere/Lancelot love triangle was a bit mature for the boys, but otherwise it was a great adventure story for them.

It was really good! I was squealing over Terence and Eileen's relationship the whole way! I can't wait to read more from this author!

This read more like a novel than the first one (more focused, last meandering), and I enjoyed it quite a lot (maybe 3.5, but not enough to round up). It was pleasant, gentle, comforting, but not much more than that, for me. A nice rice pudding of a book--I read it before bedtimes, and it was perfect for that. Will happily read more in the series, I just won't be jumping up and down with excitement at the prospect of a new one, say.
(Note: 5 stars = amazing, wonderful, 4 = very good book, 3 = decent read, 2 = disappointing, 1 = awful, just awful. I'm fairly good at picking for myself so end up with a lot of 4s).

This author is not a fan of Lancelot or Guinevere. Or French courtly love (can't say I am, either).
I liked this one better than I expected to. I think I'll go onto the next one.

Just as light, entertaining, and sometimes silly as the first one. Though I typically like books with higher stakes and deeper dives into characters, these stories are similar to Renaissance Faire skits in that they have just enough drama and characterization that you can invest and let your imagination take you further away if you like.

This sequel to The Squire’s Tale was not as winsome as its predecessor. As much as I enjoy Morris’ humorous and quick paced renderings of Arthurian legend, infidelity, suggestive imagery, and a man kissing another push this book beyond what is acceptable for me and my house.
