Having read the thirteenth in this series, I then went back to the beginning with this one. I thought the characterization was strong here, and the Edward/Rhona/Liam story fitted in well with the main plot. Attitudes to homosexuality have changed somewhat since this book was written, but the characters' motivations made sense in the context.
