This book is just one extended battle which is just a little too extended for me. Occasionally there were scenes with exquisite halloween vibes though.

This book had all the action that the previous books was lacking. It probably should have been spaced out better, but that meant that this book didn't have a dull moment. I was never bored, and always excited to see what the next chapter had in store.
I am a lover of Moggot and the Disreputable Dog

but they felt too OP. They constantly had exactly whatever power was needed to save the day. I almost wished they weren't relied on as much and our characters were the ones who ultimately saved the day.

I also could have used more of Sabriel and Touchstone. They were so flat in their appearances. 
I liked poor Nick and the epilogue has me wanted to see what the other Old Kingdom books in tale. Though I have a lot more on my TBR, so I won't be in any rush to pick them up.

I love the growth of Sam and Lireal in this book. They overcome their fears so well. And it is an appropriate ending.
