This book was pretty cheesy. Good thing I love cheese! I wanted to say that if this book was adapted into a holiday movie, it would be one I watch every year, but thankfully it was turned into a movie! I am so looking forward to watching it :) The book itself really hooked me. I connected deeply with Alex and Henry, their shared relationship, and their colliding plights. I actually struggled to finish the book because I knew I would miss the characters and story when the novel ended, so I put off the final pages as long as I could bear. Further, McQuiston is such a strong writer, which made the book quite enjoyable to read as well. Randomly, I was pleasantly surprised there was no epilogue, as I felt it would’ve been unnecessary considering how satisfying the ending was. My only critiques are that the politics felt relatively unrealistic at times, even though they were admittedly inspiring, and personally, I had a difficult time adjusting to a third-person perspective in the first third of the book. Ultimately, I would highly recommend this book and am eager to watch the film adaptation!

This is not the review this book deserves-if you want a lovely, sweet queer love book to read, this is for you! Absolutely the fluff I needed in my life.

i haven't been this invested in political drama in years. hopelessly funny and inspiring, yet realistic. i'm particularly pleased that it remained in one consistent POV for the entire book. alex and henry were endearing beyond belief, and i think i'll be thinking of these two for a while.

What a fun ride this book took me on. As the first LGBTQ+ romance I've read, it did not disappoint. This book was a fun escape into a predominantly more loving and accepting world. The main men in this book give "men written by women" where they are emotional, passion driven, cognizant of their position in the world and the change they can make with it. Same goes for the women obviously; Madame President Ellen Claremont, June, Amy, Nora, Zahra, ALL powerhouses in their own right.

As the story unfolds, the pieces fit nicely together. It almost reads like  a fairytale.

I'm excited for the amazon movie. And can I just say how ironic it is that June and Nora were so gay for each other that they have merged into one being Garnet-style being for the movie? Haha.

10 out of 10, would reccomend.
