holy CARP-- it got even better!! i LOVE king so much and savannah is truly his match in all the best ways. i love the "forced marriage" aspect and how it all ended up playing out. THE SCENE IN CHICAGO AT DOM'S HOUSE?!?!?!? HOT AF. i was eating that one up. and the ending lowkey broke my heart
all of king's internal monologue of how he saw how he was ruining her life made me sad and want to hug him so bad... like girl... he kidnapped her, threatened her family, and forced her to marry him but you feel bad for him....? yes, i know its weird BUT I DID!!
this one is my favorite of the series so far, but boy, i am EXCITED to read dom's book ;)

⚠️: violence, torture, kidnapping, injury/injury detail, gun violence, murder, body horror, trafficking, fatphobia, infidelity, death, blood, gore

Listen, this is a dark romance. It kicks off with a murder and kidnapping so things escalate quickly. The complicated “hero” adores her and would never hurt her which is what makes it all manageable. This is always what makes these crazy, dark romance stories digestible. It’s not without violence (albeit towards bad people) and one scene so graphic it boggled the mind, but it’s all so entertaining. This book confirmed that I really love S.J. Tilly’s storytelling. I liked ‘Nero’ (1st in series) and liked this one even more. I can’t wait to read ‘Dom’ (out in a few weeks as of this review). I’ll be looking into ALL of S.J.’s books now. :)
