Fails to capture the magic of the originals, alas. Felt repetitive, obvious, and a little lazy.

Excellent book! I was impressed that the new author was able to take an amazing series written by the deceased author and continue with the story in such a great manner! I wonder if there will be more books after this!

I read the three “Millennium” books penned by Steig Larsson as they were released. I was hesitant to continue after Larsson’s death when David Lagercrantz took over the series. All I can say is that it was silly of me to wait until now to read this fourth book. I liked it just as much as Larsson’s original ones. I completely forgot how good the characters are from this series. Now I can’t wait to read number five.

I was cautiously optimistic when I heard about this book. While I longed for a continuation of the series, I was worried about it being way below par. David Lagercrantz does a fine job. I feel about Spider's Web much like I do about the continuation of Ludlum's Bourne novels; Lustbader allows me to continue reading a beloved character, even though he isn't exactly the same. I know other authors who have died and others tried to pick up the mantle only to fail miserably. That is not the case here. I don't think Lisbeth is as hard and edgy as she was in Stieg's books, but she is still a strong character and not so different as to be unrecognizable. I thought Blomkvist was especially well-written and the U.S. tie in was well done. Regardless of the motivation(s) behind continuing the series, I was satisfied with the result and would recommend it.

This, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Series. Known as the Millennium Series started off very detailed and complex. With this being the third book of the Trilogy and the final book that the late author, Stieg Larsson was able to write. He kept all the characters turning and twist to huge finally. Such tension and suspense made this a series, I just couldn’t stop reading. As the main storyline for the first 3 books come to a conclusion. We’re left with a huge cliff hanger. The story continues in book 4. With Lisbeth and Mikael. Once again drawn into another suspenseful situation that they must trust each other once again in order to survive.

Very interesting to hear more about Lisabeth's sister and some background and to keep building on their story!

A reasonably good continuation for the series, although Lagercrantz alters the established characterization of Blomkvist and Salander a bit and the material isn't nearly as dark and gritty. Certainly on par with the third book, which was a slight disappointment for me compared to the highs of the first two. Since I find Salander to be such a fascinating character, I loved being privy to even more of her backstory, and bringing her equally interesting sister Camilla into the mix is an exciting move since she was previously only teased. One thing that Lagercrantz definitely gets right is the details about everything happening at Millennium, which I still cannot not care less about.
