Springfield is often overshadowed by Salem when discussing witchcraft in the New World so found this book very important.
The story of what happened to the Parsons is a sobering one which Gaskill does well in bringing to life.

Some boring moments, some interesting moments. I'm not a usual reader of history books so the depth of detail on the boring bits was both unexpected and unwanted - but it's a thorough description of a moment in time, so I can still see the appeal.

"The Ruin of all Witches" was incredibly boring and repetitive, and despite only being 229 pages long, it has felt like the longest book I've ever read.

If you live in Springfield and want a really dry account of the towns founding and early years then this is for you. If you want to read about witch trials or in any way not be bored to tears then give it a miss!

This was a fascinating and thoroughly well researched read, set in such a way that it was so immersive. 4* only because, at some points, it felt unnecessarily slow, but, for the most part, a brilliant read!
