OMG. I had no idea I would fall so massively in love with these two. Wyn is quite possibly *the perfect boyfriend* -- protective mode like whoa, adoring, HOT, crazy good in the sack (consent ALWAYS), did I say adoring? He fucking loves Danny more than ANYTHING. The way he calls him, "my sweet" ... sigh. And then there's Danny. Adorable, kind, trusting, also crazy good in the sack. And he loves Wyn just as much as Wyn loves him. I mean, the way he went absolutely feral once Wyn took his hood off. I just adgkljetqwigpudaghda.

You know what I love… discovering a whole new genre of romance to love. Monster romance! I stumbled across this series as a recommendation based on another book I read and decided to give it a go and I am so happy I did.

20 years ago the fabric between our world and the monster world ripped open and monsters invaded earth. The majority of the country is a vast wasteland of raiders, military and monsters.

Wyn, the Soul Eater, one of the country's most feared creatures, returns every few years to slaughter random humans and wreak havoc on the country. The military wants him so that they can research him and devise more devious plans for the monsters they capture.

Danny, human, has struggled his whole life. In this new world there is little work, food, water for humans so after a loss he joins the military as a means of survival. What Danny doesn’t expect is for his superior officers to send a contingency of soldiers to their doom… to act as bait, a distraction so they can capture the soul eater. When Danny comes face to face with the Soul Eater he is sure he will die… when he wakes up in his barracks room, he struggles to understand why he was spared and why has Wyn agreed to talk, but only to him?

Soul Eater’s world building was impressive, characters AMAZING, storyline original, and the romance was hot and sweet! OMG I am in love with Danny and Wyn. This book is filled with suspense, surprises, and monsters I can’t wait to learn more about.

Do I recommend it? YES! I have already started book 2, Edin… that big purple monster wormed his way into my heart and I can’t wait to learn more about him! I wholeheartedly recommend you give a new author a try and monsters some love and read this book!

I haven't read much monster romance, and I have to just admit that it really isn't my thing. I gave it a try, and ultimately, it just weirds me out. But I liked the writing, Danny and Wyn and Edin, the story premise, etc. I liked it enough to read, even when I started to get a little bored from their wandering and smexy times. After awhile, it got to be a little monotonous. I don't think I'll keep reading the series because at this point I just need to admit defeat, that monster romance is not going to be my jam, but it's not any fault of the author. I would definitely read her again, without the monsters.

Just like Wyn at the sight of Danny, this book was, so long ago, Love at first mass murder sight for me!

I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but thank the Mabs I did! I feel this series will forever be one of my favorites for its originality, innovation, fantastic world building, lovable characters, and humor, love, and feelings! And without forgetting that in the midst of the madness that are the Wastes, we have super important lessons in accepting who we are and that love is love and nothing else matters!

I reread this book to listen to the audiobook, and if Wyn was already the best thing ever, hearing his voice brought even more depth and charisma to our precious old Telith! Danny's voice with his New Louisiana accent! Chef's Kiss!!!

It was here that we met the Wastes, inhuman genitalia, mindblown sex, slits and that in the wastes it is not necessary to lube because our monsters are always prepared *wink*wink*!

and the endearments........

"Yes, my sweet?" ". . . Want you all the time, Danny Sullivan. My sweet human." and listening to them even made everything sound more delicious!

Even after we are in book 7 and each time Lily manages to overcome herself, Wyn and Danny are my favorite couple in the series. And to the detriment of Wyn's reputation, he is adorable and caring, but with just the right dose of discontent to make it PERFECT. And of course Danny, the most beautiful human, is capable of the most hilarious conversations about anything and everything ever!

I listened to this on Audible and the voice actor was great with his different voices, however, the MC's accent became irritating after a while. In some places the audio repeated and you could hear when the recording stopped and started again. The story was just ok for me. I just don't think moster romances are my cup of tea.
