I wasn't entirely satisfied with the ending, but I enjoyed spending time with the characters.

And now I'm thinking that this series might never end. This one just felt jumpy - it never really found its way. It jumped from character back to character, place back to place, intrigue back to intrigue. And yes I liked the new characters, but most of the old characters just weren't written as strongly. So there was maybe 50 pages of visiting with old friends. Not a bad book but unlike the last one, not a good place to end and yet it should end.

This is the best series I have ever read. I feel like I know all these characters like friends. I could drop into this world and know who's who and what's what. Anyone that loves scifi and fantasy and epic story lines and incredible character development should read this series.

Overall I was disappointed with the series after "A Meeting at Corvallis". The creativity that spawned the Bearkillers, the Mackenzies and the PPA just wasn't there. I really am not inclined to read the next one.

This is the 10th book out of 15 of a series that I Started a LONG time but now it seems to just keep on dragging on. He has created a fantastic universe in the Pacific Northwest and I guess we call it the upper Midwest so I understand the need for the number of books, but wow this is a long series. The author does a great job of describing the scenes but at times it feels like he gets stuck in the details. Trying to keep track of who is related to who and how made me feel like I was reading Game of Thrones with the number of characters involved. I am sure sooner or later I will get back to reading the next one but for now I will let this series sit lower on my priority list in terms of reading.

What a wonderful tale. I must get my hands on the other books, very soon.

Not as great as the first three books, much better than the last two. Enjoyed the last 2/3 of the book much better than the first 1/3.

It is getting better in my opinion, but one thing is certain - it is VERY slow. So, if this kind of thing does not deter you, you might like this story continuation after all!

I love this series so much. It is richly imagined and the characters and settings are so tangible and developed. This novel ends with a transition into the next generation of characters, and while I will miss keeping up with the stories of some of my favorites I am really looking forward to getting to know the upcoming characters and their stories.
