<strong>The epilogue….</strong>

I enjoyed this book we enough. It brings to mind that saying difficult people always say: “if you can’t take me at my worst, you don’t deserve me at my best,” because it features a sort of calm hero in Kirov and a sort of very prickly, very self-protective heroine in Lainey. This book in line with the rest of the series after the rescue of the human women from the traffickers is set in the period in Luxiria where they are trying to get organized to send the women back to earth. Unfortunately/Fortunately, Kirov and Lainey meet and sparks fly and he has only days to convince her that they’re fated mates.

I liked the dynamic of having a prickly somewhat toxic heroine who knew her toxicity and the maturity in the conversations and knowing that she had with Kirov and with herself. It never felt like one of those “spite yourself out of happiness” situations. However, what tipped this over the line for me was the absolute gorgeousness of the epilogue. The themes of difficult relationships with family members and Alzheimer’s/Dementia and what children of those affected go through was unexpected but beautifully dealt with and that epilogue- the most heart-melting one yet. Highly recommend if you’ve been following the series- less ideal if you haven’t!
