A short story following a young girl called Suri and her wolf, Mina. It reminds me of the classic fairy stories, where malevolent spirits lie in wait and you must know the names of things to have power over them.

Extremely well-written and immersive that hints at a much larger, grander, and more ancient world than we get to see here.

I haven’t read any of the “Age of…” books (but I have read The Riyria Revelations) and really like Michael J. Sullivan’s writing style and characters. He perfectly captures the bravery of a child (some would say foolishness) as well as hinting at her powers and the greater things still to come.

Suri discovers something behind a waterfall. Something that might better be left undiscovered.

I loved the mystics, I love the trees (and name of the trees) and the magic inherent in them. It invokes a sense of magic and awe, and that’s what I love in fantasy.

There’s a lot packed into this short, and it was very well done - expertly narrated by the incredible Tim Gerard Reynolds!

This is a fun story with a lot of promise, it definitely has me intrigued about some of the magic that's in Legends of the First Empire. I especially enjoyed TGR's narration of it and bumped it up half a star just for that!

Great short book to peak our interest in the books still to come.

Really enjoy Michael’s worlds he writes in.

Quick read, the main character reminds me of Alice from Alice in Wonderland.

Great short story. Picked it up for free on Audible. It was nice introduction into the new series.

A fun short story that takes place before the start of the series. I would recommend reading this at least after book 2, but it has no spoilers.
