A must for ASOIAF maniacs like myself. If you really love the world of ASOIAF you shouldn't skip this one. Some really great background on the Blackfyre rebellion. Also, an interesting look at Bloodraven's role in the rebellion. He's only going to be increasingly relevant in future ASOIAF volumes.

And I just love Dunk. What a character. Plus every time I see his shield I think of Brienne and then my heart hurts.

It's very nice to see a comic book adaptation of the Tales of Dunk and Egg. However, in order to accommodate all the plot and backstory the book sometimes becomes too verbose, which is not bad on its own, but at times detracts from the reading flow. Also, the art is nice but not great.

The Hedge Knight graphic novels are making me weep for the wasted potential of the ASOIAF graphic novels.

The difference in quality of art between the two series is astounding. Miller gets everything right.

i also read The Hedge Knight and The Sworn Sword: The Graphic Novel. i first read George R.R. Martin in the anthology Legends. i love Dunk & Egg. i also love fantasy anthologies. i would never normally read the fantasy series by these authors because they are more than 10 volumes or just feel like it because the books are so very long. anthologies give me a chance to read their work.

anyway, i did enjoy the graphic version of the stories.
i plan on reading all of the Song of fire and ice series this way. but my goodness those GN's are taking forever to make.

I'm so torn between a three and four here. It both looses and gains in this translation. Because novella two grew by leaps and bound compared to novella one, while graphic novel two is kind of on par with graphic novel one. The vibrancy and color was lovely though and the story works so well with some aesthetics everywhere, all the color that the author is rarely needing to fill in to his gritty, glorious stories.

So I'm definitely. But I loved seeing the The Spider in all her tiny Glory, and Egg continues to convey so much with just his looks and posture, which the books can only hint at so many times. And Dunk, while he looked naive and confused in the first graphic novel, in the second looks so old and beleaguered I felt bad for him.

So this one is a lot of toss up for me. Hopefully they'll keep graphic novel-ing these tales.

My copy has finally arrived!

I gave three stars for the e-book version when I read it a few years back but for this particular edition with its AMAZING artwork, it deserves another star. Much much better than the hideous AGoT graphic novels.

The part when Ser Eustace told the tale of the Battle of Redgrass Field is just totally mesmerizing. Daemon Blackfyre and Bloodraven in da house! And now that I see how the Red Widow - Tywin's feisty grandma - looks like, I totally get Dunk's infatuation with her. 'I wonder if she's freckled all over'. You dirty knight, you!

I cannot wait for The Mystery Knight to be published in graphic novel version, due next year.
