Finally getting around to reviewing some older ARC's!!

Honestly, this one fell 50/50 for me. I think there's a very specific, and tricky way to do a slow burn novel correctly, one where it keeps the tenstion building while also keeping the reader entertained. Sadly, I think this one went more towards the dragging side of things. I'm also torn on whether things have to be plausible or believable in books. Sometimes the plot twists in this just felt too...unrealistic for me and it made it not work as well as I wanted it to. It honestly took me out of the novel instead of shocking or surprising me.

Overall, I don't think the mystery/thriller aspects of this novel ended up working for me, but I do think that it has some merit and could find its way into the right hands!

"Mother of All Secrets" is a gripping psychological thriller that delves deep into the challenges of new motherhood while weaving a complex web of secrets and suspense. The author brilliantly captures the overwhelming emotions and struggles of a first-time mother, making the protagonist's journey both relatable and intense. The mystery surrounding the disappearance of a support group leader adds layers of tension and keeps the pages turning. While the pacing is generally good, some parts feel slightly overwhelming, mirroring the protagonist's state of mind.

I buddy read this with a friend on facetime, and when i tell u it was an experience.

I had so many theories. I had so many guesses. I was convinced that I knew how this book was going to end, but when I tell you absolutely nothing I predicted even happened…. I was speechless. I was shocked. This book has lived in my head completely rent free since then and has me in an insane chokehold. I will recommend this to literally anyone who will listen.

Quite unrealistic, but empowering nonetheless. I love the relationship that the mothers all create, and each of their character development. I do think a few extra chapters on making Jenn's friendships with each of other mothers a little more substantial would have improved the book, because it did all seem a little surface level and quite forced. But a nice little book to reading when it's raining outside.

My Review ✨

➡️ SWIPE 4 SYNOPSIS ➡️

Mother of All Secrets by Kathleen Willet

This was a roller coaster.
Started off slow, very boring- lots of back story. Repetitive ness.
Grew in climax a bit, then it became extremely OTT and ridiculous to then end in a left field extremely unbelievable way.
Disappointing.

Very under researched and unbelievable.
