I had no idea what I was in for and I'm so glad I read this. Utterly bizarre in the best way.

incredibly traumatic.  tw: rape, cannibalism, pedo, incest, child sexual abuse, child abuse, murder plus a lot more but i feel like those are the worst. basically do not read this book. i literally threw up reading it. there were some really bad parts in the beginning but i was invested and i liked natsuki. the last few chapters got super dark and traumatic im not kidding i literally threw up at work reading VERY GRAPHIC CANNIBALISM i was in shock i couldnt pause the audiobook it was hell. i was shaking and crying do not read this book. that being said i did finish it, there was some asexual representation and also natsuki killed her rapist so thats why this book isnt a 0 or 1. i would not have finished if i was reading a physical book but audiobooks put me in a trance and the author is so good at writing that i forgot i was listening and had free will anyways dont read DONT READ. i literally only read this book bc i loved convenience  store women by the same author and didnt look into this book I WILL NEVER MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN WTF WTF WTF

First off, a very weird book with a lot of trigger warnings. Proceed with caution. That said, I really liked it. It was a unique critique of societal norms with a lot of trauma and spicy mental illness mixed in.

A very strange book indeed. Many things I didn’t anticipate happening. Fantastical elements utilized but in a way that either felt too unbelievable or too over the top (even for magical realism).

SpoilerTW: SA, child abuse, neglect, murder, cannibalism. This is what you get when an author tries to max out their protagonist's ACE score. Somehow, it works, but it's a hard one to recommend.
