Plot slow but series has potential

I had a tough time finishing this book because the plot dragged, but I feel it has potential. The main characters are interesting and have potential for development and I hope the next book focuses more on the mystery and less on the romance...I have purchased it to find out!

And the Earth Moved by Zanna Mackenzie is a 2014 publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Amber gets a call from her first serious boyfriend , Ennis, now a famous actor, explaining his troubled brother, Joel, has just been found dead and imploring Amber to please come. Was it an accident, suicide or something far more sinister?

Amber's arrival coincided with that of Charlie Huxton, CCIA. ( Celebrity Crimes Investigation Agency)

Ennis is worried about Charlie and what he might turn up about Joel so he ask Amber to follow Charlie. Charlie is on to her right away, but he thinks Amber might be a help to him, so he allows her tag along.

This light cozy mystery with romantic elements is a charming story filled with humor and a few double entendres, and a perplexing mystery to solve. Amber and Charlie make a great team even if Amber is a little green. All through the investigation Amber has to remind herself that her relationship with Charlie is strictly professional and once the case is cleared he will be off on another celebrity crime case. But is it possible that Charlie may have noticed Amber's natural detective skills? Excellent characterization, flows evenly, great formatting, easy to read, and a very solid start to this series. 4 stars

Liked this first in a new series. Amber is a very pleasant main character and Charlie (agent from the CCIA) is a great love interest.

There is a murder in town and it is the brother of famous actor Ennis McKarthy. And when a celebrity wants to have a crime solved discreetly they call the CCIA (Celebrity Crime Investigation Agency). Enter Charlie.

Amber is an old girlfriend of Ennis (before he became famous) and he asks her to work with Charlie. And so she does.

Although the crime itself was not complicated or special I enjoyed the interaction between Amber and Charlie.

Solid first in a series, although I had to suspend my disbelieve at one time. But I was happy to overlook it because I liked the story so much.

Bought the next one.
