This was my first of Stephen King's books that I decided to take a crack at and I absolutely LOVED it. It's an extremely immersive story told in an unconventional fashion--King uses documents like newspaper clippings, interviews, and snippets from other books to tell the tragic tale of Carrie White and the bloodbath of prom night (which he mentions in the first paragraph). It's a fascinating account of a teenage girl's deadly last few days and it's true: the book is MUCH better than any of the film adaptations. Of all of King's novels I've read so far, this is one of my favorites.
Moderate: Bullying, Child abuse, Cursing, Death, Domestic abuse, Emotional abuse, Sexual content, Violence, Grief, Religious bigotry, and Murder
While it's definitely an amazing debut novel, there's most certainly a fair amount of violent and disturbing content. It is Stephen King, after all.
