I really liked the vivid descriptions, I could really see the scenes in my head with how they were written. I also really like Carrie as a character, i think she’s really fascinating and i’m a huge fan of books about religious trauma so this was definitely a good choice for me.
I’m knocking one star from my rating purely for the unnecessary use of the n word, i don’t think that was needed whatsoever and i know this was written in the 70s but still, it wasn’t acceptable then and it isn’t acceptable now.

Carrie’s story is relatable to anyone who grew up religious (and later went another route) or outcast. King’s dialogue and use of multimedia throughout the novel make it an easy and enjoyable (despite the topic) read. This is my second re-read and it still holds up. Especially the government involvement. Still striking today.

Also I think Stephen King forgot how "suggestive" the ending was. Like he was going to write a sequel but forgot? Or decided not to?

That being said, I personally did not enjoy the reports, articles, and narration all as a framing device. I found it jarring and would sometimes ruin what happens next in the story prior to the narration getting to that point. I realize this is intended as foreshadowing and is supposed to add to the suspense, however, it had the opposite effect for me and ruined all tension. I think this problem could've been solves by having the narration come first for moving the plot along rather than any plot beats.
While most of the characters are terrible people, Carrie's mother stood out as a memorable antagonist. I wonder if this character was an inspiration for Annie Wilkes in Misery.
Still, I applaud King for such a unique story, especially the time period published. I'm glad I read it but probably won't resist any time soon.
