Does exactly what it says on the tin - it's a quick read psychological thriller. The chapters alternate between Kate and Jack telling the story of the beginning of the end of their marriage. It's entertaining enough as long as you don't think too hard about it - the plot doesn't bear much scrutiny. Neither of the characters are very likable or sympathetic. It wasn't really my cup of tea, but the unexpected (if highly implausible) plot twist at the end lifted it to three stars.

The characters in this book were well written and told so well but unfortunately we didn’t learn that much about them which I was hoping to happen. The dad in this the story is so insufferable and so annoying. The different point of views though out this book made its so a more interesting and enjoyable read as I liked hear from both characters side. One part at the end of the book had me shocked I didn’t see it coming or expect to happen. But I thought the way the women dealt with the news that happened at the end was very harsh and selfish it could of ended a lot better this book. Overall a enjoyable read x

The first Tammy Cohen book I’ve read, I picked up this Quick Read at my local library and read it within a day. I found the premise quite sinister - spurned husband Jack will go to any length to win back wife Kate, who recently declared she didn’t love him and wanted a divorce. The story flits between both partners, with Jack’s story being written in the first person, giving the reader further insight into his state of mind as he attempts to win back his wife’s affections. The twist at the end really made me feel uncomfortable and left me wanting more. It definitely won’t be my last Tammy Cohen book!

Alternating between the perspective of a husband and wife recently separated this is the second time I have read Clean Break and it made it even more sinister knowing what was happening and how it would end.
This is a great short story to read if you want something that is short, quick but doesn’t disappoint on storytelling. In quick time you have a sense of all the characters and can briefly dabble between wondering who the enemy is.

It's OK, realised the 'twist' too early, but it was revealed early on too. Wanted it to be a bit more sinister, but as a quick read short story it's ok

This was actually creepy. Shiver down your spine, kind of creepy. Looking around at the shadows in the room, kind of creepy. Lifting your legs up off the floor and hugging them to your chest, kind of creepy. I actually really liked it.

Kate and Jack are having troubles in their marriage and are about to embark on the road to divorce. But it turns out, that’s a pretty dangerous thing to do.

This was written well, but it could have done with another edit at least. There was an instance where the perspective changed from one paragraph to the next, from third person to first, which was a bit jarring, but an easy mistake as the story is told from two different perspectives. Of a third person account of Kate, and a first person account from Jack. Jack’s side of the story is way more interesting to read. I had his voice in my head and started to thoroughly creep myself out by it.

It was a decent read, to say it was only 95 pages long. A lot of the language used wasn’t very unique at times, a lot of the sentences were variations of cliches I have heard before, the whole “it’s not me, it’s you”, sort of thing. But Jack’s side of the narrative really succeeded in flipping that on its head. Unsettling but recommended.
