TLDR: Not great, not bad. He prepared as it's a bit darker than expected (nothing extreme). MMC is a bit of a dick and does stupid stuff which make it seems like he does care. FMC is just complicated (there's a lot going on there). Won't continue with series.

I had a very love hate relationship with this book. The writing was okay, not the best or worst. However, there were missed  diting moments that would knock you out of the story, for example the mmc was somehow using his right hand to talk on the phone, and had two left hands to touch the fmcs knee and also drive. There was also a scene where two characters were sitting to her left when in fact there was only one and the other was in the front seat of the car? Like little things, but they would still make you stop and back track.

The plot is definitely darker than expected but not in a bad away. The group that the mmc is a part of is very strange though. Like they've taken in a girl that's come from an extremely abusive background yet our mmc leaves her alone with these men when one gets overly handy with her and throughout there's just a lot of inappropriate touching and moments where it seems like the author is trying to bring in another love interest but doesn't? Hard to describe but it's very weird when reading.

FMC is just a bit all over the show in terms of her mental health, stability, and thoughts. She's quite a difficult character to love and, again, the way she interacts with the different men in the group is just extremely strange and doesn't feel natural at all.

Wouldn't recommend this book and won't be continuing. Ending felt a little rushed and the very final chapter was a bit lacklustre. It just didn't seem to fit right with the development of the characters, especially our female character.

A very good debut story, well written and and interesting characters overall.
I liked the connection between the main characters and their chemistry as well as the banter.
It’s darker than I thought it will be but it’s well balanced between the suspense moments as twists and sweet blooming love story.
I’m looking forward to read more by the author in the future.
