Colleen Hoover’s writing is just not for me. I have heard many negative things about this author but I still tried to go in with an open mind. Nothing bad has happened so far, but I have many other books I am excited to read & this one just didn’t manage to capture my attention enough in the beginning to warrant putting off my other books for. The characters and plot seem rather cliche and it’s honestly a trope I’m tired of. However I may choose to revisit it at a later date when I am in the mood.

The only thing that saved this from getting 1 star was Clara and her friends. Morgan, Chris, and Jenny were all insufferable. Jonah was so close to being good but had no personality. Felt like a Wattpad fanfiction.

I would describe this book as "fine", just fine.

As someone who typically enjoys Colleen Hoover's storytelling, this one felt predictable and lacked the emotion of her other stories. While I enjoyed the build up with Clara and Morgan, I felt like the climax hit and then just fizzled as we rushed towards the conclusion.

If you're a fan of Hoover's writing style, this still may be a book for you but I'll probably choose a few of her others over this one if I were to do a re-read.

One thing that would have changed my mind about this book? More Gramps! The true star of this story and we only saw him in small glimpses. A damn shame if you ask me!
