I honestly don't know how I feel about this. I just gave it four starts because anything lower just didn't seem right. M-Bot was kinda annoying. I am annoyed by things that are distracting me when I'm trying to concentrate. And that's what M-Bot was. But it was kinda fun I guess. It's just a lack of worldbuilding. I know they're trapped on planet, but still, it doesn't feel right. Also, I didn't like the little romance in it. Just my opinion.

This is by far one of the greatest books I have ever read. I typically don’t read much Science Fiction but I am so glade I picked this book up. I read it in 2 days and 3 weeks later found myself reading it for a second time(I am resisting the urge to read it a 3rd).

So what made Skyward such and incredible book?

Characters:

Skyward is wonderful because it has a strong leading character who knows who they are, what they want, and does not let others opinions about them change who they are. The main character still has room for character development which is one of the reasons that this books is so good.

Skyward also has strong supporting characters that add an amazing depth to this book. All the side characters also go through their own character development as they find out who they are and what they want.

World:

The world building in this book like all Brandon Sanderson books is incredible. You have such a full picture and understanding of the world that you can picture each and every scene with out the author using long over winded pros and explanations.

Descriptions:

One of the things that I loved most about this book is the fact that you are not given a full description of what the main character looks like. The author leaves this up to your own imagination which makes this book more individual to the reader because besides hight, hair color, and race, you the reader gets to pick how the main character looks to you.

The descriptions for the world like I said before are not overly done. You get a nice clear picture of the world and are able to understand how it works. You are given just the right amount of information of how the education system and job market are run in short but interestingly informational segments.

Plot:

This book is about a girl named Spensa who decides to follow her life long dream of joining flight school. But like with all Sanderson books all is not as it seems. There was never a dull moment when reading Skyward. This book is full of twists that make you cry and climatic moments that make you stay up reading till 3am. It is full of humor that made me laugh my head off and gives you one liners that you will never forget. It has heart and soul and amazing quotes.

I would recommend this book to everyone who is thinking about giving it a try because it is worth it. This book is too good to sum up in a review so I’ll just leave you with this. Read Skyward because this book is full of so much heart and soul you can’t help but love it.

3.5 stars. I enjoyed it, but I felt that it was a bit boring until the last 10%. The same things were happening over and over until the end. I probably won’t read the rest of the series, but I am definitely planning on jumping into the cosmere.

This is.... well, awkward. For me.
Everyone raved about this book and I thought: Well, it's Brandon Sanderson, of course this will be a 5 star book. I was too confident. I think the problem here is that I could not connect with Spensa at all. Not a single second I liked her. She was one of the most annoying characters I've ever read in a book. This is heavy because this is a Brandon Sanderson book and I was so sure I'd love every book by him. The plot, the characters, all felt very off to me and very flat. Spensa had like 0% character developement and I hated her attitude.
This book was not for me and I'm so sad because of it. Will not continue the series.
This is not a good reading month for me.
