Wow - just wow. This book was suspenseful and really kept you on your toes. I would certainly recommend looking at trigger warnings before reading!

A dark and disturbing thriller that was nothing short of fantastic. So many twists that I could never see coming, not only at the end of the book, but throughout it. The characters were dynamic and complex and the relationship between the two sisters was perfectly captured. This book took place during COVID, but Slaughter wrote about it in a very subtle and relatable way. My only complaint would be the very long chapters though the compelling story line and fast paced nature of the book made it hard to put it down regardless. Warning: her descriptions of violence, sexual assault and explicit drug use are very graphic so if you are easily triggered, this book may not be for you.

So this is my first Karin slaughter book, and I didn’t enjoy the story for me there wasn’t enough suspense and I found the story very predictable. I didn’t dislike it but neither did I enjoy it. I also didn’t like the covid references, I understand why authors like to incorporate it in to the story as it is a big part of our lives, but when your living through it the last thing I want to do is read about it. I Liked the characters and the style of writing so I’m looking forward to reading more books by Karin slaughter.
