Really enjoyed this trilogy. Venetian, Machiavellian politics with echoes of Transylvanian legends too. I loved the conclusion which seemed true to all of the characters

I am 100% biased here, I love Melissa Caruso,s writing and her books, this is the final in the trilogy so you definitely cannot just jump in here you’ll be lost and confused. I highly recommend the entire trilogy not just this book. A fantastic end to a wonderful series, the world building is amazing and the characters were so strong, sassy, funny and relatable. This is an epic series you need to read

Have I mentioned recently that I fucking *love* Kathe? He may be my favorite character in the series.

I quite liked this series, but the last book lacked a little of what made the previous ones so good, certain character interactions. It had to focus more on the plot, which makes sense, but still. Also, I _really_ dislike magical compulsion of the kind this story had, so I would have preferred that to be seriously toned down. Also, I got a bit fed up with Amalia asking Ruyven what he wanted, and he should have killed her at least five times over already.
Aanyway, mostly a pleasant reading experience. I will be curious to see what the author writes next.
