I've continued reading the Once Upon a Time series. The book I recently read is titled The Diamond Secret and is written by Suzanne Weyn. I really enjoyed this book and the way in which it was written. The enjoyment I received from the book may have had something to with the fact that I have always been fascinated by the story of Anastasia Romanov. Anastasia is the basis for the rewriting of the story. I found it interesting as well because the author was able to tie in history and facts while spinning a newer idea of the mystery behind Anastasia. There is a form of underlying romance tied into the story, which I believe would make it more enjoyable for female teen readers. I also believe that the sense of adventure that the author creates in the tale makes the reading quick paced and allows the reader to wonder how the author may end the story. Is the girl really Anastasia or isn't she? It is the question that so many people asked for so long when reading and learning about what happened to the Romanovs so it is appropriate that the author is capable of doing this as well.

A nice, quick read. I did keep singing songs from Anastasia in my head though.

The characters were great and the story was believable. The romance was kind of cute as well. I didn't really like how it ended - but people acting irrationally always gets to me.

It was interesting to learn all about the fate of wealthy Russians after the revolution.

The plot was little dull because I know what happens. Also, probably, because I know that Anastasia has been scientifically proven dead.

All in all, it was a pretty decent retelling.

This is the story of the lost Romanov princess Anastasia as you'd like to imagine it. There was nothing hugely original or unique about this telling but it was as believable an account of how she survived as any. I'd recommend it to anyone who is new to the story of Anastasia.
