Starting this book I thought it had great potential and found the idea new and interesting. People are being murdered inside their homes but all the doors and windows are locked, there is no sign of forced entry, and their keys are not missing. There are no suspects and the victims do not seem to be connected in any manner; except for how they are being killed. Detective Sergeant Jessica Daniels (this is book 1 for her character) is working the case and is frustrated with the lack of leads as well as trying to figure out how the killer is getting in and out of locked houses.
I admit, this book didn't keep my attention. I found it read more like a young adult novel even though the main character is a 30 year old woman. The main character (Jessica) came off as immature, unprofessional, and wasn't very likable overall. The other characters didn't seem to add much to the story overall and there is a side story with her old partner that really doesn't add anything to the story and probably could have be omitted entirely.
Overall not a fav for me.

Re-read, cos I've just been reminded of this book and realised there is now a shit-tonne more of the series I can be happily occupying myself with for a long while!
