Dear Hannah,
I have to say I am very disappointed in the title of this book, so mundane for such an intricately woven story. Perhaps you might consider something more attention-getting, like Crime Edits or Hidden in Plain Edits. But maybe you were going for something more subtle, that would purposefully hide all of the interesting twist and turns forewith. I am your biggest fan,
Leanna

Couldn’t get far because the writing was just not good. Maybe it got better as it went on but I can’t suffer through it. The letters were fine but the mystery between just wrote horribly

So... that was that ig. By the end of this I was more so excited to have it over with than to find out what actually happens at the end which is not great for any book but especially for a crime one. I don't think it's offensively bad but while looking back on it I really doubt I'll do so fondly. The biggest gripe I have with it are the letters scattered throughout. They were just annoying to read more than anything and I had to physically stop myself from skipping over them completely because I just did not look forward to them at all. And not because of the uneasiness they're supposed to coax out of you, more that I just did not like the idea of them being there at all. It ruined the immersion for the story that you're technically reading the book for.
And as decently interesting as the core story here starts out by the end you just really don't care what exactly happens. So yeah, I don't really recommend this.

Such promise, but sags under the weight of intended cleverness. Enjoyable as long as reader is willing to flow with the meta-narrative, suspend disbelief, and isn't the type who cannot invest if characters aren't likable or relatable. I can still in good conscience recommend - and have! - but it needs a more careful sell than what the marketing promises. The author's reach may have exceeded her grasp, but it still has power to intrigue.
