3.5 stars. Loved the Stephen King storyline with Roland, and Jake/Oy storyline, as usual! The Susannah-Mio storyline wasn't as interesting to me. What is great about this book is that you get TONS OF QUESTIONS ANSWERED!

There is one huge flaw toward the end- GROSS. Disturbing. I expect disturbing from King and usually the disturbing stuff in his non-horror novels is just thought provoking and makes me hail what an inventive imagination he has. This one detail in the plot is really upsetting and definitely wish it was not included.

Shorter than the others but at times it dragged. Three separate storylines, some with sub-storylines, all going at once meant it was more disjointed. Also felt like a way station, sort of--just helping us get from one place to another. No real meat here.

3.5/5:
An anti-climactic follow-up to a great entry.
Liked:
1. Not reuniting. The group doesn't reunite in this book, which I found interesting, but not surprising, especially for Sai King. I like when books have characters separated for a period of time. Too bad it's rather short in this case.
2. Susannah. Susannah's probably my least favorite member of the Ka-tet if I'm being completely honest. She never really grabbed my attention in The Drawing of the Three, a book I didn't particularly care for, if you'd recall. But in this book, she takes center stage, trying to finally rid herself of Mia.
3. Stephen King. Stephen King's a main character in this book. I'm not joking. He gets an entire chapter devoted to him. He's goddamn awesome in this book, not knowing what to do and kind of having a mental breakdown over the character he created coming to see him.
Disliked:
1. The meta factor. Now, I don't mind when books are meta, my favorite show of all time is Community, and the show is more meta than these books. But sometimes these books, much like Community are meta just for the sake of being meta.
2. The sidelining. Roland, Jake, Callahan, Eddie, and Oy are in maybe 200 pages of this book. I'm not kidding. That isn't necessarily a bad thing because we got development on Susannah, but I would have liked to see a bit more of them.
3. The baby. Susannah's pregnancy has been probably the thing I'm the least interested in in these books. Like I said, before this book, Susannah wasn't my favorite character. Now she's pregnant with a demon.
I'm scared for the ending, from what I hear, you either love the ending or you will despise the ending with all of your being. If anyone's curious, here's my guess as whose dying.
Roland-Survives
Eddie-Dies (I mean, he definitely is, come on!)
Susannah-Survives
Jake-Dies
Oy-Survives
Callahan-Dies
