I was given an arc of Blood and Holy Water in exchange for an honest review.

Blood & Holy Water was about an angel and a vampire who fell in love and had to solve a murder mystery based around the deaths of potential angels.

Fin and Ava both faced struggles - Fin with his vampirism, and Ava with the order and rules of the angels. They were very real, for mythological struggles, and I could relate.

Fin’s love for his daughter was sweet, and I really liked her.

Simon was very meh for me. I wish we could have had a flashback scene about his and Ava’s friendship, as constantly having her tell us about it and not being shown got a little tiring.

Some twists and turns were a bit predictable, and it dragged a bit in the middle, but the story was very enjoyable overall.

I liked the ending. It was something that I didn’t see coming, unlike some of the things related to Fin.

I hope the sequel will be about Lily.

4.5 stars.

DNF at 30% just couldn’t get into it and found Ava to be irritating, naive and completely unbelievable

This was an enjoyable read. It was fast paced and exciting. The characters were very strong with their individual back stories and twists. The world of angels and vampires was created with great detail, the rules were made clear. Every riddle was answered and though this was part of a series it made it as a stand alone book no cliff hanger. There are many places the rest of the series could go as far as detail in back stories and side characters those books may be exciting to read. This one was fulfilling and the perfect length.

Couldn’t get past the MC being so immature and naive compared to the guys. I did finish the book though - but only due to the guys.
